Each day, our oceans are affected by plastic, pollution, and oil. Every choice we make has the power to shape what happens next. The damage can feel overwhelming, but this painting is a reminder that our decisions still matter.
At the bottom of the piece, the chessboard and chess piece represent the gamble we are taking with the future of our planet. Just like in a game of chess, every move can change the outcome, and sometimes one decision can lead us down a completely different path.
Resting on top of the chess piece is an open book that leads into another world an ocean where orcas still leap freely and life remains beautiful and untouched. To me, that image is both hopeful and heartbreaking.
